I am having a little trouble understanding who and when this word is appropriate? why is it that when i watched tavis smiley the other day as he interviewed van jones that he was allowed to ask mr. jones what it was like being a negroe in the white house? if rush has asked that it would be front page racist news! why is that no one is allowed to use the word negroe anymore because it is offensive to some, yet the united negroe college fund is a lauded group? i won't even go into the question of how the naacp can get away with using the antiquated term "colored people". so far i have surmised that it is only acceptable to use the word "negroe" if you are an african american and speaking to another black american, you are a democrat in congress or you are a group that hands out money to african americans. does this seem a little confusing to anyone else? it amazes me that i have been taught and told to NEVER use that word, but yet it is commonly used by others. go figure.
